How to Choose the Right Rock Climbing Shoes

Shopping for some rock climbing shoes can be very exciting. Since rock climbing shoes are different from your everyday shoes, it is important to know what to look for when buying them for the first time.Getting Started

Before you start hunting for some rock climbing shoes, you should first know what you really need. Note that there are different types of rock climbing shoes that are being sold in the market today. For instance, there are sports shoes that are more suitable for face climbing. This type of climbing shoe is popularly used in indoor climbing. These types of shoes gives more traction and do not slip easily from the surface.

If you are a beginner indoor rock climber, the sports climbing shoes will suit you well. On the other hand, if you are one of those rock climbers who usually go on long climbing sessions, the traditional rock climbing shoes would be best for you. The good thing about traditional rock climbing shoes is that they are very comfortable and fit a little bit more loosely than the other types of climbing shoes.

Trying the Shoes

When buying rock climbing shoes, make sure that you try the shoes on before you get them. Stores that sell climbing equipment and gears usually have their own wall where you can try on some of the equipment before you purchase it. If the store where you are shopping for rock climbing shoes has an artificial rock wall, it would be a good idea to try the shoes on and them climb on the wall. You can never tell how the shoes fit unless you give it a try on the wall. Always remember that you are buying rock climbing shoes so you need to climb with it to test it.

If you are buying sports climbing shoes, make sure that these shoes fit very snugly. Note that sports climbing shoes are meant to fit snugly on your fit so make sure that it is tight enough. On the other hand, if you are buying traditional rock climbing shoes, wiggle your feet as much as possible to make sure that the shoes are loose enough. Always remember that traditional climbing shoes are not meant to be worn tight.

When trying on some rock climbing shoes lace the shoes tightly and make sure that the eyes of the shoelaces are wide apart. Note that shoes tend to loosen up with constant use so make sure that the eyes of the lacing are wide apart when you buy the shoes. If the eyes of the shoe lacing touch, that pair of shoes are bound to get too loose for comfort after you have worn them a few times.
