Make a List of the Rock Climbing Sporting Goods Equipment That You Need

If you are planning on going rock climbing, then you are going to have to get yourself a few different pieces of rock climbing sporting goods equipment first. After all, only after you have all of the rock climbing sporting goods equipment that you need will you really be prepared to go climbing for real.Although some of the basics will remain the same, depending on whether you are going indoor or outdoor rock climbing is going to determine the different pieces of equipment that you are going to have to get. Basically if you are going rock climbing indoors there is a lot less rock climbing sporting goods equipment that you will have to get, as the centers will have it there for you for the most part. However, if you are going outdoors then you will need a lot more of your own stuff.

Climbing Shoes

Shoes are incredibly important, and they come in many different sizes and styles, from ‘board-lasted’ beginner-oriented shoes, which have a stiffer sole, to flexible all-style shoes. You can also choose from shoes with more ankle protection for outdoor or crack climbing, to intensely shaped shoes for the more aggressive sport climbers.

Basically you want to make sure that you have a pair of shoes which you are able to lace tightly enough around. Your foot shouldn’t move around inside the shoe but that at the same time should not cut off your circulation either.

Harnesses

Harnesses are another one of the most important pieces of rock climbing sporting goods equipment that you need to get. Again you can find them in all different sizes and styles, from simple twists of webbing with buckles to heavy, padded harnesses with solid loops for hanging gear, to extremely light sport harnesses.

If you are an average rock climber then most likely you will just want to go with a medium, which would be a fairly light, non-padded harness which has a couple of loops for hanging a few pieces of gear, such as your belay device and your locking carabiner, for instance.

When You’re Finished

Once you are finished rounding up all of the rock climbing sporting goods equipment that you are going to need then you are able to finally get going and start rock climbing! Just make sure to take all of the necessary safety precautions and take your time, then you should have great fun and should not run into any problems.
